Website Performance Starts With Better Decisions
Images, scripts, and page structure deserve attention before a performance tool reports a problem.

Make performance part of the brief
Fast pages are easier to achieve when speed is treated as a design and development constraint from the start. Large media, multiple third-party tools, and heavy motion each have a cost.
Agree on what the page must communicate first, then choose the lightest effective way to communicate it.
Give images a purpose
Use the correct size for the space, choose an appropriate format, and load below-the-fold images when needed. The hero image deserves special attention because visitors usually see it first.
Visual quality still matters. The aim is to deliver the right image efficiently, not to remove useful imagery.
Be selective with scripts
Audit every analytics, chat, personalization, and marketing script. Ask who owns it and what decision it supports. A script that no one uses still affects every visitor.
Load nonessential functionality when it is needed, and review the list regularly.
Measure real journeys
Test the pages and devices your audience actually uses. Lab scores can flag issues, while real-user data shows how those issues affect visitors in practice.
After each release, check whether the experience improved for both people and the business.
